Cat Boarding
FAQ’s
Do you offer short-term or long-term cat stays?
Whether it’s a short overnight stay or a longer-term stay, we have options to suit you and your cats’ needs.
Does my cat need to be vaccinated?
All cats must have current vaccinations with a certificate. Requirements include:
Kittens: Board 10 days after final vaccinations.
Cats: Up-to-date F3 (or equivalent).
We accept undesexed cats, but not those in heat. If your cat comes into heat during their stay, an emergency contact must collect them within 24 hours. Males and undesexed females are kept separate.
How old does my cat have to be to stay at your cat hotel?
We welcome cats of all ages at Alameda! They just need to meet our vaccination standards:
Kittens: Board 10 days after final vaccinations.
Cats: Up-to-date F3 (or equivalent).
Undesexed cats are fine, but we don’t accept cats in heat, and males are separated from undesexed females.
What if my cat takes medication?
Our skilled team can give your cat’s medication for a small fee. Please inform us at booking, and bring all meds in original packaging with clear instructions. Extra doses are appreciated in case their stay extends.
Can I bring my own food for my cat?
Absolutely! For fussy eaters or special diets, bring your cat’s food (small fee applies). Let us know when booking, and provide labelled food with feeding instructions. Tell us about any allergies too!
Can you provide me with updates throughout my cat’s stay?
Is cat boarding stressful for cats, and how do they react?
Not at Alameda! Our cattery offers a modern space with garden views, comfy chairs, and air conditioning and heat pumps. Your cat receives plenty of attention during their stay.
Can I inspect your cat boarding accommodation?
We’d love to show you around! Book a tour before check-in to see our Christchurch cattery—just no cats on the visit, please. Contact us to arrange a time. Last-minute tours at drop-off aren’t available.
Can I get a discount for additional cats?
We welcome pet siblings at alameda and are happy to offer a discount at many of our locations for pets from the same family who would like to share a room. Please look at the specific dates and locations you require to confirm the pricing for the period.
